YAPYAP FAQ: Answers to Your Most Frequent Questions
Hey there, fellow yapper! After spending more hours than I'd care to admit causing mayhem in rival wizards' towers, I've seen a lot of new minions come and go. Many of you have the same questions I did when I first started. So, I've put together this guide based on my own experiences and what the developers at Maison Bap have officially confirmed. No rumors, no nonsense—just the straight facts to get you started on the right foot.

Getting Started: Your First Steps into Chaos
How do I actually cast spells?
This is the big one! YAPYAP is all about voice-activated spellcasting. You have to speak the incantation for the spell you want to cast clearly into your microphone. I can't stress this enough: enunciation matters! When a giant Spider is bearing down on you, it's easy to panic and mumble, but that won't do you any good. Take a breath and speak clearly.
warningTip: Before you even start your first run, head into Settings > Audio and make sure your preferred microphone is selected. A good setup is half the battle.
What's the main objective here?
Your goal is simple: cause as much chaos as possible. You and your friends (up to 5 of them, for a total of 6 minions) are summoned to break into a rival wizard's tower and wreck the place. Each night, you'll have a "Vandalism Target" to meet. You do this by breaking pianos, clogging toilets, smashing furniture—you get the idea. Once you hit your target, you need to escape before the monsters get you or time runs out.
How do I team up with my friends?
Playing with friends is the best way to experience YAPYAP. You can create a lobby and set it to Public, Friends Only, or Private. To invite your buddies, you can either use the glowing orb inside your home base or just use the standard Shift+Tab Steam overlay to send invites.
Important: Make sure the person you're trying to join is already inside their in-game lobby, not just at the main menu. If you're having trouble connecting, the oldest trick in the book usually works: have everyone restart their game or even Steam.
Gameplay Mechanics: The Nitty-Gritty
What happens when I die?
Death isn't the end, but it's a major setback. If you get taken out, your teammates can still revive you. If the whole team wipes, the mission is a failure. So, I always try to stick together with my team and watch each other's backs. A good support player with a Blessed Wand is worth their weight in gold.
What's all this gold for?
Gold is your key to getting more powerful and causing even more chaos! You use it to buy new wands and other items from the merchant in the lobby.
Here's a tip I wish I'd known earlier: don't miss the free gold! There are 11 gold coins just sitting on the staircase in your home base. After you complete your first quota and unlock the basement, you'll find over 50 more coins scattered around down there. That's usually enough to buy a powerful new wand right away!
How do I get new wands?
You'll always start with the trusty Wand of Winds, which you can literally just grab from a tree branch. It's free and surprisingly useful! For everything else, you'll need to spend that gold you've been collecting at the merchant.
What's the deal with the Grimoire and hidden spells?
Ah, one of my favorite parts of the game! When you get a new wand, don't just run into the portal. Take it over to the large book in your base—the Grimoire. When you interact with it while holding a wand, it will open to that wand's page and show you its spells, including any hidden spells it might have. I make it a habit to do this with every new wand I acquire.

Technical Troubles & Solutions
My voice commands aren't working! Help!
This is a common issue, but usually easy to fix. Here's my checklist:
- Check In-Game Settings: Go to Settings > Audio > Voice Input and manually select the correct microphone. The game doesn't always pick the right one automatically.
- Check Windows Settings: Make sure your preferred mic is set as the default recording device in your Windows sound settings.
- Speak Clearly: As I said before, clear enunciation is key. Don't shout, just speak firmly.
I'm getting a white screen when I launch the game.
The developers have acknowledged this one. The official advice is to first try restarting the game, Steam, or your entire PC. If that doesn't work, make sure you've allowed YAPYAP in your firewall exceptions.
Accessibility Features
Can I play in my language?
YAPYAP has interface support for 16 different languages, which is great! For the all-important voice casting, the game officially supports English, Mandarin, and Japanese, with more languages possibly coming in the future.
Is there an arachnophobia mode?
Yes, there is! I have friends who can't stand spiders, so I was happy to see this get added. If you want to turn those creepy crawlies into something less terrifying, just go into the Settings > Accessibility menu. You'll find the Arachnophobia Mode option there.
I hope this helps you on your journey to becoming a master vandal. If you have more questions, the official Steam forums and Discord are great places to ask. Now get out there and cause some trouble!
